Erika Grapes is a singer and songwriter from Milan. After a long time devoted to writing poetry as an existential tool to survive hardship and challenges, followed by a decade in the music industry promoting other musicians, Grapes is now out with the debut single Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby.
For this release Grapes teamed up with soundtrack composer and producer Lorenzo Montanà, also known for his artistic engagement to Tying Tiffany, T.T.L. (project in which he composed and produced one of The Hunger Games movie trailers) and the German ambient music composer Pete Namlook (for the 5 collector albums called Labyrinth).
For this version of Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby (original by Cigarettes After Sex) Montanà created a liquid electronic soundscape where Grapes' ethereal and husky vocals meet a bass dominated trip-hop base.
"This song comes in a time of loss and awareness" - explains Grapes - "a very emotional stage in my life and while singing it, I felt the need to pour in the black and the white simultaneously. The nihilism, the pain, as well as the mystical hope and perception of warmth from the universe, a bigger and mysterious picture."
- Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby by Erika Grapes will be available on most digital stores via UnitedMasters starting from April, 9th 2021.
